mountains. sunshine. pine trees. single track. wind. movement. sweat. effort. dust. silence. grit. laughter. water. breath. rest.

I am not a fast runner. In fact, I’m not really a runner at all.  The movement my body makes while out for a “run” can best be described as a “jog-scoot”. That’s fine.  Just give me the steep trail, a meandering path through aspen and pine forests, past alpine meadows and lakes, and I will be happy.

After a few trail ultra-marathons the last couple years, we (yes, we) have decided that 2014 will be the year I train for and run the Leadville Trail 100.  This blog will be a record of the next year.  Of running–ah, scooting, musings and photos of my time on the trail.

Thank you for your support and inspiration.

  1. Dear Muck,

I’m on board. I think this is a great idea. A friend of mine recently took up swimming after a long absence from the water and her experiences are forming the basis for a weekly section of her blog. You’re going to be buoyed and supported by your writing and the unexpected reactions to it. Good job and good luck.

    Aloha,

    Doug

P.S. Leadville 100? You’re not nuts, but man, oh, man, what a challenge.

    • Thank you for the kind and motivating words, uncle d! Glad to have you on board–I love all the nautical references in your comment. Do you live near the ocean or something? :) much love and aloha! Keep writin’.
